Lilly Lodge

At Farmer & Sewell, we have never been described as boring, and neither have the interiors of our homes. Our personal homes have been referred to as a mix of the fabulous clothing designer, Lilly Pulitzer, with the bold splash of color and a hunting lodge because of the antler and decoy collection found within. A friend once mentioned, “you live in a Lilly Lodge.” No truer words have ever been spoken! Combining bold colors and deer heads can be tricky, but to know David and me, you can’t have one without the other. Your home should share your story, secrets if you will, allowing your visitors to know you on a personal level.

Our only rule in design: do not bring anything into your home that you do not absolutely love! If you have an item no longer serving you, that you cannot repurpose or revive, you must let it go.

Your home should be a collection of all things you love. Collections come in all shapes and sizes. Combining a gorgeous piece of Ben Ham Art, a Reed and Barton silver bowl, a Charleston Gullah Sweetgrass Basket on a lucite coffee table over a vintage rug screams you have great taste. Layering unique pieces adds depth to your space and makes your home stand apart from your neighbor's. If you love the colors and textures together, they will love back and bring you joy. If a judgy friend down the street doesn’t like your design, she doesn’t have to stay for the cocktails! When you layer unexpected colors and pieces, your space will sing.

Don’t forget the silver! A collection of silver pieces sprinkled in each room add a layer of class and “high cotton” to the conversation your neighbors will have while sipping on their cocktails in your Lodge. Cheers!!

Love your design,

Susan & David
